Chicago Botanic Oct 2

One of our favorite gardens of the more than twenty in the Chicago Botanic Garden is
the Circle Garden, which always features spectacular varieties of flowers,
plus a fountain.

"Lola Quill Mum" is a variety of exotic mum with hundreds of tiny "quill petals."
It has a rather floppy appearance.

"Lola Quill Chrysanthemum"

"Seaton's Ruby" chrysanthemum was a rather unusual flower which varied from
tomato red to orange red to fire engine red on different plants.

"Milka Asters" come in pink, pale blue, and deep blue.  They are small flowers.

"Pink Milka Asters"

"Junkyard Dog Dahlias."  I don't know where the name comes from,
but the flowers are beautiful and large and boldly colored.

Glorious, large, peach and orange dahlia.

"Solar Flare Dahlia"

"Oregon City" yellow spider mums.  These were new to me, rather small.  The
traditional spider-mums are  8-10 inches across; these were about six inches across.

Large orange and red dahlia.

"Bo-Peep Pink Chrysanthemums" and "White Wood Asters"

Dentellated White Zinnias

Cherry Quill Mum

"Party Time" Parrot Leaf Plant.  This is also called "Joseph's Coat" and
the "Calico Plant."

"Montauk Daisies" appeared in several parts of the Garden.

Mounds of deep purple "Amphion Mums" outside the Enabling Garden

"Olivia Mums" at the entrance to the Enabling Garden

The Enabling Garden shows what can be done even if you are physically handicapped.
Raised beds of flowers and vegetables are at a convenient height for work.
Large planters also work well on a patio or deck or balcony.

"Neon Splendor" was a dahlia in the garden.

"Ivanetta Pink Dahlia"

"Yohankie Daisy Mum"

"Miranda Chrysanthemum"

"Gold and Silver Chrysanthemum" had tiny gold flowers and leaves edged in silver.

"Precious Pink Japanese Anemones"

"Begonias Escargot"  made colorful dark foliage to contrast with the bright colors
of the flowers.  These unusual begonias came in several different colors of swirls.

"Seattle Chrysanthemum" was one of the stars this year; it was about 8" across.
The bush was covered with dozens of these large beautiful flowers.

"White Japanese Anemones" in the English Walled Garden

"Cherry Red Dahlia" was a deep-hued beauty
